7 Days in Morocco

One week in Morocco goes by fast, so the key is choosing where to start and where to finish. Here are three itineraries we organize every season, depending on where you land.

Itinerary 1: Marrakech and the Sahara loop

Perfect if you fly in and out of Marrakech. Our 7 Day Desert Tour from Marrakech goes through Ouarzazate and Imilchil in the High Atlas, the Ziz Valley and Merzouga, with a full day in the desert, then returns via Tinghir, the Todra and Dades Gorges and Ouarzazate. The last day is free to visit Marrakech.

Itinerary 2: Tangier to Marrakech, north to south

Arriving by ferry from Spain or flying into Tangier? The 7 Day Tour from Tangier to Marrakech crosses the whole country: Chefchaouen, a guided day in Fes, the cedar forest of Azrou, a camel trek in Merzouga, the Todra and Dades Gorges and Ouarzazate, before reaching Marrakech.

Itinerary 3: Casablanca, Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech

Landing in Casablanca? The 6 Day Tour from Casablanca visits Rabat, Fes with a local guide, the Middle Atlas and two days in the Merzouga Sahara, then crosses the Draa Valley and Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech. Add one day in Marrakech to complete your week.

Tell us your arrival and departure cities, and we will build your 7-day route.

Can I add Chefchaouen from Marrakech?

Yes. The 5 Day Tour from Marrakech to Chefchaouen crosses the desert and Fes and ends in the Blue City, which leaves two days for Marrakech or the north.

Tips for one week in Morocco

  • Choose an open-jaw flight (arrive in one city, leave from another) to avoid driving back.
  • Spend at least one night in the desert: it is the highlight of most trips.
  • Do not try to see everything: Morocco rewards a slower pace.

If you have 8 or 9 days

An extra day or two can transform your trip. From Marrakech, add a day in Essaouira for the ocean breeze and fresh seafood, or a day at the Ouzoud Waterfalls for nature. From Fes, add Chefchaouen if it is not already in your route.

A sample week from Marrakech

  • Days 1 to 3: the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou and the gorges.
  • Days 3 to 4: the Merzouga dunes and a night in the desert camp.
  • Days 5 to 6: the return through the Dades Valley and Ouarzazate.
  • Day 7: Marrakech, its gardens and souks.

It is the best way to see contrasting landscapes in a single week without changing hotels every night in big cities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is one week enough for Morocco?

One week is enough for one of the classic loops: the imperial cities and the Sahara, or north to south from Tangier to Marrakech.

Should I start in Marrakech or Fes?

Both work. Start where your flight lands; a one-way tour avoids backtracking.

Do I need to rent a car?

No. A tour with a driver lets you enjoy the mountain roads and avoids parking and navigation stress in the medinas.
